Nick Goody, Staying Focused on the Plan

Nick Goody, a major league pitching prospect in the New York Yankees organization, is not only working hard at recovering from recent elbow surgery but also using his time and circumstance to grow in his faith walk with Christ.  His devotion and prayer time has given him an even better understanding of how God is using his injury to make him stronger not only physically but mentally and spiritually as well.  He is also using his time to help others, this week he is participating in the New York Yankees fifth annual Hope Week in Tampa, FL.  The Yankees' HOPE Week initiative (Helping Others Persevere & Excel) is rooted in the fundamental belief that acts of goodwill provide hope and encouragement to more than just the recipient of the gesture.  His time with the children at Tampa General this week has been truly encouraging.  They are the true champions.

"I enjoy spending time with children and their families, seeing their faces light up in the midst of their difficutlies and challenges not only is an inspiration to me but I also consider it a blessing.  Sometimes it's easy for athletes to lose sight of just how fortunate and blessed we are to be given the abitlites we have that are not our own." Goody said.

When Goody pitches, he carries a pewter coin in his back pocket in the shape and design of a baseball that has a cross and his favorite Bible verse engraved on it reading, "For nothing is impossible with God." - Luke 1:37.  You can learn more about Goody by reading his story on the testimonies page, follow link to Nick Goody's Testimony .  He stays actively involved in Athletes In Christ by participating in and assisting in the planning of ministry events.
