JR House called up to Astros

House, 28, is hitting .303 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs for Round Rock this season. He's started 69 games at first base and 36 behind the plate.

He grounded out to second base in his first appearance in Houston, but drove in a run with the play in an 11-5 loss to Arizona.

"I got the famous [Pacific Coast League] wakeup call at 4:15 this morning," he said of his pregame situation. "I caught the 6 a.m. flight from Memphis to Round Rock, got a little nap, got to see my wife for a little bit, and I got the call to come down around 3:45, so I just packed up the car up and drove."

Cooper said House will give him another right-handed bat for pinch-hitting situations and will primarily see time catching.

"We're going to face a few pretty tough left-handed [pitchers] here pretty quickly," Cooper said. "He'll be a guy that can help us either catching, playing first base, possibly third base, and playing off the bench."
