Head tennis coach for the Gators, Roland Thornquist, stated that Jennifer was the first signee for the 2002-2003 season. “We are extremely excited about having Jennifer join the Gator family, she’s a player on the tennis court and an extremely well-rounded individual off the playing surface. Jennifer has tremendous international experience and will bring maturity to the court.”

Jennifer has maintained a 3.9 grade point average. She stated she’s thrilled to be a Gator and she’s looking forward to playing to the best of her ability while representing God, family, country and now the University of Florida.

Jennifer began playing tennis at the age of 3 and won her first tournament by the age of 6. When she was 15 she traveled to Hiroshima, Japan, to play an exhibition event with college stars Ansley Cargill (Duke) and Laura Granville (Stanford), in addition to seasoned professional Monica Seles, Mary Jo Fernandez and former Gator great Lisa Raymond. At 16, she defeated former collegiate No. 1 ranked player, Jennifer Hall from Notre Dame and has represented the U.S. in 10 different countries. At 17, she earned WTA world ranking of No. 460 by playing in nine tournaments.

“Jennifer has the size, range and athleticism and drive to be on of the best in the world,” said Nick Bolletetieri. She trains at the IMG/Bolletieri Academy and comes from a family with plenty of athletic talent. Her father David Magley was an Academic All-American at the University of Kansas and played for the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers. He is currently the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at BCS. Her mother Evelyn, played in the University of Kansas Symphony and was a member of the Jayhawk track team and is currently the Secondary Music Director at BCS. Younger sister, Jessica was the starting center for the 2001-2002 Varsity Girls Basketball Team and is part of the C.R.E.W. (Youth for Ministry Group at BCS). Her brother David Jr., played on the JV basketball team this past season and is also a member of the C.R.E.W. Her nine year old brother Daniel is also on his way athletically as he has competed and placed in cross country and track competition and loves to shoot hoops whenever he can.

Off the court Magley plays the violin, drums and is the lead singer in a Youth for Ministry Group, FAITH and impressively has founded her own community service programs, Pearls of Grace and Above and Beyond and she has modeled extensively on the runway and print work.
