Todd Williams sat in front of his locker following the Florida State University spring football garnet and gold game with a quiet calm and confidence that defied his six-foot, five-inch, three-hundred and forty pound carrying frame. For a warrior who has almost always excelled on the grid iron, Williams has had his share of trials and tribulations in life.
All that has changed.
The mamouth offensive tackle credits his faith in Jesus Christ for giving him direction in life. A direction that he was never given until attending F.S.U. and meeting people like former Seminoles center Clay Shiver.
Shiver meets every Tuesday night with Williams, Noles QB Chris Rix, and several other players for bible study, fellowship, and discipleship. The Friday night before the spring game, Williams spoke to youngsters at a local school about his life with and without Jesus. If Chris Rixs father is any indication, Shiver taught him well.
I heard Todd speak last night, the senior Rix said, and he just about had me in tears.
When asked about his faith, Williams quickly pulled a Bible out of his locker.
B-I-B-L-E, he said, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
Coach Bowden gives us a playbook to win football games, and God gave us this playbook to win in life!
